Gateway to Town . . . Looks Promising

Since 2009 this sign has been nailed to the city limit sign. And before that, there was a really faded one that dated from the late '90s.  The sign suggests some sort of special experience is in store for people riding bikes in town. Does Calistoga deliver on that promise? Not always and not as one might expect.

This blog explores Calistoga from a bicyclist's point of view. Not just showing the good, the bad, and the ugly (although there will be some of that), but showing what could be done . . . for the benefit of the people that live here and for visitors too. After all, a promise made is a debt unpaid, right?

  2. With just 2 square miles, it could be a perfect place to ride a bicycle.

  3. I think your blog is such a great idea and I am sure you will inspire people to get on their bicycle's and start exploring Calistoga again. I am still going to come and visit your town and then do a bike ride, will love to tell my friends back in South-Africa about this adventure.

  4. I don't know right now I am so exhausted from just walking, have no desire whatsoever to go biking. Sorry. I am not from here so I have no idea where this Calistoga is, surely a very small town. Right? I don't know we have a lot of wide open country area in Texas, but we do not want to go riding around in bikes. Cars, yes for sure!! Maybe the heat in Texas keeps us from ever wandering out on bikes?

  5. I would echo the comment above in that I'd never thought about bikes and Calistoga together either! After reading through your posts I have to say that you've created a nice history here bringing it into the current issues as well. '

Really like the way you've laid out the history and developments.
